Journalling Burnout Is Real: How to Get Back on Track

Introduction

As someone who has loved journalling since a young age, I can tell you it’s okay to feel like it is a burden at some point, or you know extra work. Like I said I have been journalling since a young age. It was like an in-built feature in me, to journal daily.

But as we grow our needs become different. Although venting my emotions on paper helped me a lot. Especially when you don’t have anyone to talk to or when you just can’t bring yourself to open up, journalling becomes your sweet escape. But my expectations started to increase as I grew up.

When I was a child, writing down things and feelings and feeling like weight being lifted off my shoulders, would do the job. But as I kept crashing out over similar things and started noticing patterns, my expectations increased. I wanted to be able to vent and get rid of the patterns as well!

Journalling correctly

I looked up different types of journals, how to find your way of journalling, etc. And started to follow it religiously. And mind you I felt the changes! Earlier I only cried over things, didn’t have the guts to re-read my crash outs and understand myself.

But as I understood the value of tracking my progress, doing shadow work, etc. I started to feel better, and it felt okay, to point out my own mistakes, own up to it and become better.

It does take a while, but when it starts happening you can’t bring yourself to quit!

Stuck in freeze mode

In the beginning, you enjoy the changes you see, even if they are little. Seeing yourself moving towards your high self after wanting to do so, for years, feels incredible in the beginning,

But somewhere in the middle, you find yourself stuck. Sometimes, you hate analyzing everything about yourself, sometimes you wonder why you have to fix all of this or sometimes it’s just tiring. In times like these, you need to remind yourself what your ultimate goal is.

Or picture the time when, you won’t have to suffer anymore because of your repressed emotions anymore, a time when you’ll be able to regulate your emotions better, without having to journal everything all the time. I believe that nothing heals to a 100% there’s always a part of it remaining in you.

But it’s better to have a part of it at the back of your head, that visits you sometimes, rather than it being a big part of your life, causing you to give certain reactions every time it triggers you. And it somehow holding you back from becoming a better person.

Feels draining

If after feeling stuck you somehow jump back, yet feel drained, take a break. Often times we feel stuck because our body isn’t habituated to us being so productive and happy. It doesn’t feel safe anymore.

Because to it safety was those repeated cycles. But now you’re questioning it all and trying to break through them, your body feels overwhelmed and puts you into freeze mode, where you feel stuck and sacred for no reason.

And feeling all of this daily can drain you. Sit down and rest. And then keep pushing. Your body won’t let you escape the cycles so easily, since you’ve been a part of it for all your life.

Sometimes, you’ll be scared for no reason, wondering if all of this is worth it. I believe it’s better to invest your time in bettering yourself and doing things you love, because time’s going to pass away anyways. You’re just putting it to good use!

Keep telling yourself this and after a while everything will start to feel better than ever!
